Totally Television The Hugo Television Awards
One of the most prolific and influential elements of the lives of millions, television has become a fixture of the American experience. Now in its 45th anniversary, the Hugo Television Awards have honored the important events, beloved personalities, and inspiring ideas that have shaped the unforgettable moments of television. Every year the most innovative members of the television industry submit their work to the Hugo Television Awards to be recognized as a leader in the field. Now is the time to be recognized for your part in influencing the ever-advancing field of television.
This years 2009 Hugo Television Awards will continue to raise the standard of quality in all aspects of the medium. With new and exciting approaches continually influencing television programming and commercials alike, the Hugo Television Awards pay tribute to those who push the envelope and display mastery of their craft. And, only the most entertaining and informative work is awarded our top prize, the Gold Hugo. This year, we're proud to honor two comopanies with the Commitment to Excellence Award, for their outstanding contribution to the medium of television.

2009 Commitment to Excellence Award Recipients:
Illinois Film Office, Television Productions honoree
For over three decades the Illinois Film Office has been Chicagos ambassador to Hollywood marketing our state as a world-class film and television destination. As a result, the city of Chicago has been the backdrop for some of televisions most memorable programs including ER, Hill Street Blues, Married with Children, Family Matters, Women of Brewster Place, The Untouchables, Missing Persons, Chicago Hope, The Bonnie Hunt Show, Early Addition, Cupid, Mind of the Married Man, What About Joan, and Soul Food. Most recently, as a result of Illinois Film Tax Credit, the state has landed major TV series work such as Prison Break, The Beast, My Boys, and NBCs comedy pilot State of Romance in April 2009. In addition, the IFO provides production companies with an array of services including location scouting, housing assistance and information hotlines. In 2009 the IFO will continue Shortcuts, the IFOs first ever short film competition and IFO Night at the Movies, a new program for people across Illinois to learn more about our bustling film industry.
